UNITED STATES SEVENTH FLEET 

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting 

the Air Medal (First Strike/Flight Award) to 

Lieutenant Commander David R. MASTERS 
United States Navy 

for service as set forth in the following: 

CITATION 
 

   "For meritorious achievement in aerial flight as a Patrol Plane Commander in patrol  aircraft while attached to Patrol Squadron SIX, engaged in direct combat support operations  against the enemy in Southeast Asia from 13 July 1970 to 8 December 1971. In the successful  completion of 28 missions totaling 250 direct combat support hours against the enemy,  Lieutenant Commander MASTERS contributed materially to the success of the United States'  efforts in Southeast Asia. His devotion to duty under hazardous flying conditions was in  keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service."

The numeral "1" to represent First Strike/Flight Award is authorized.
