The Commandant of the Coast Guard takes pleasure in presenting the COAST GUARD MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION
PATROL SQUADRON SIX (CTU 12.2.4) BARBERS POINT, HAWAII
for service as set forth in the following
CITATION:
"For meritorious service from 1 October 1987 to 30 June 1989. During this period; the men and women of Task Force TWELVE supported United States Coast Guard operations in the areas of drug interdiction, Long Range Intercept Guard, search and rescue, and medical evacuation. The personnel of Commander Task Force. TWELVE, subordinate antisubmarine warfare operations centers, and Pacific patrol squadrons demonstrated exceptional professional competence, resourcefulness, dedication, and a teamwork approach in support of highly visible and successful operations. In addition to normal Navy responsibilities, resources from Task Force TWELVE participated in the interdiction of six major drug vessels, conducted 294 sorties in support of Coast Guard search and rescue missions, and participated in a myriad of drug interdiction operations under the direction of Commander, Joint Task Force FIVE. The superior knowledge, technical expertise, determination, and total devotion to duty of the personnel of Task Force TWELVE elements reflect great credit upon themselves and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard.
